Metro

Metro (www.metro-region.org) protects open spaces and parks, plans for land use and transportation and manages garbage disposal and recycling. Metro’s 2040 growth concept guides the region’s transportation and land-use planning. Metro manages the urban growth boundary and provides planning expertise to local government. Metro also sets the region’s transportation funding priorities and plans and implements transportation programs and helps developers build vibrant downtown centers.

Metro’s Transit Oriented Development (“TOD”) & Centers Implementation Program helps cities and towns realize the Region’s 2040 vision of vibrant, pedestrian-friendly centers, by attracting private sector investment near transit, in centers, and on main streets. Development projects are implemented as examples of compact, mixed-use development and to stimulate other investors to redevelop nearby properties.
